Answer.... > This is a common way to increase the strength of the King Pin spindle. By welding the spacer part # 10 to the spindle, the spindle is less likely to bend. Some shops will also fill the left spindle speedometer hole with a hardened steel rod with a very tight fit and weld in place to further increase the strength of the left spindle. Vic
